In light of the recent events involving the United States’ current administration, I am asking you to consider the following:
As you know, the current United States’ administration and leadership have implemented a number of unjust tariffs that will undeniably affect Canada and a number of other countries around the world. As a proud Canadian I am personally aghast by the events unfolding in the United States and encourage you as a consumer to support Canada.
I have especially focused my attention to examine our suppliers both in Canada and the United States, with the goal of seeking suppliers and products in order to avoid the effects of these tariffs thus supporting Canadian businesses and keep my business’ prices as close to possible to pre-tariff levels.
This especially involves focusing on suppliers which avoid the United States. Many consumers in Canada are doing the same.I expect that these tariffs will inevitably cause price increases on many products from the cars we drive, the radios we use, to the foods we eat, as manufacturers and producers face fallout from cost increases.
Specifically in my business, many manufacturers distribute their products for Canada exclusively though their American-based offices -examples of this include Yaesu USA and Diamond Antenna. Other companies involved in radio communications operate their main product development and intellectual property holdings from US-based entities. Many retailers such as those found online are US owned and operated.
The good news however is brands such as Icom operate a dedicated Canadian branch office which source products directly from their “home company” in Japan. We are especially focusing our marketing and the products we supply to our customers in order to support companies like Icom in Canada and their employing of Canadians.
Towards this end, I ask you to remember that we are all in this together: Shop Canadian and support local Canadian business.
